Welcome to our Website. Children’s Heart Specialists provides non-invasive cardiac services to newborns, children, adolescents and young adults. We also provide medical services to a selected group of adults with pacemakers and complex congenital heart defects. We evaluate patients referred to us with heart murmurs, chest pain, hypertension, palpitations, fast or irregular heartbeats, cholesterol problems, fainting, congenital heart defects, pacemakers, Long QT syndrome, obstructive sleep apnea and dysautonomia. Our physician, Juan Villafañe, MD, has been practicing pediatric cardiology in the Commonwealth of Kentucky since 1986. Dr. Villafañe specializes in congenital heart defects, non-invasive cardiac electrophysiology and pacemakers.

Our Echocardiogram Laboratory is the only one in the region (as of 03/2008) to be accredited by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories (ICAEL), which is supported by the American College of Cardiology, the American Society of Echocardiography and the Society of Pediatric Echocardiography. Our full time echocardiographer specializes in children and adults with congenital heart defects. Our staff is certified in CPR and is bilingual. Our main facility has a stress test room, pacemaker analyzer, defibrillator, Holter scanner, EKG machine, transtelephonic memory event recorders and state of the art echocardiogram equipment. We strive for excellence in service and quality care. All patients are seen within a few days of referrals or immediately if it is necessary. We participate with most insurance providers.
